Dominique Normand, an artist of Maliseet heritage, was born in Lac Beauport, Québec and has been living as an artist in the Laurentians for almost 13 years. A strong visceral bond with the Native Culture has led her to head up North on a regular basis.
For a minimum of three months a year, she is immersed in Cree Traditions. She takes part of hunting, fishing and traditional gathering journeys. Her sketches, films and paintings express her unique vision of nature, wildlife, people of the vast James Bay Territory. She has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, such as, Galerie Richelieu in Montreal, Broadway Gallery in New York, presented her work at Westin Hotel in Los Angeles, Galerie Klus’kap in Moncton, Galerie Soutana in Mont Tremblant, Manifest’Art in St-Adolphe and other galleries in the Laurentians.
